Second Monkeypox Case Confirmed in Pakistan in Two Days:
Pakistan has confirmed its second case of Monkeypox (MPOX) within just two days. The patient is a 47-year-old Nowshera resident who returned from the Gulf and was diagnosed with the virus upon arrival at Peshawar airport. Routine screening at the airport detected early symptoms, leading health authorities to immediately isolate the patient. The case follows another recent MPOX diagnosis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Pakistan to two for the year and 12 since the virus was first detected in the country. In light of the rising number of cases, the government has stepped up surveillance at airports and other points of entry, and talks are ongoing with international health organizations to secure vaccines for frontline health workers. People are urged to remain vigilant at all times, especially while traveling, and to immediately report any symptoms to health authorities. Isolation wards and clinics have been set up in major cities to treat suspected cases.
