Sports include a wide range of physical activities, each with its own  rules, techniques and competitive structure. Here are some general categories and key points about various popular sports. Team Sports 1. Soccer:
 Played by two teams of 11 players each on a rectangular field with goals at both ends. The aim is to achieve goals by putting the ball into the opponent's goal. 
Major tournaments: 
FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League. 
 2. Basketball:
Played by two teams of five players each on a rectangular playing field with baskets at each end. The object is to score points by throwing the ball into the opponent's basket.

NBA, FIBA World Cup.
 3. American Football:
 Played by two teams of 11 players each on a rectangular field with goal posts at each end.  The goal is to score points by putting the ball in the opposing team's end zone.

 4. Baseball:
 Played by two teams of 9 players each on a diamond-shaped field. Players aim to score points by hitting the ball and running bases.

5. Hockey (Ice and Field) Ice Hockey:
 Two teams of six players each play on an ice rink.  
 Field Hockey:
 Played on grass or artificial turf by two teams of 11 players each.  The objective is to score a goal by pushing the puck (ice) or ball (field) into the opponent's goal.

NHL (ice), FIH World Cup (field). 
Individual sports 
1.Tennis :
Played individually or in pairs on a rectangular field separated by a net. The objective is to hit the ball over the net  into the opponent's court without the opponent being able to return it. 
 Major tournaments: 
Grand Slams (Wimbledon, US Open, French Open, Australian Open). 
2. Golf Played:
 individually, usually on an 18-hole course. The aim is to complete the course in as few strokes as possible. Major tournaments:  Masters, US Open,  Open Championship, PGA Championship.
  3. Athletics:
 Including a variety of events, such as running, jumping, and throwing.

Olympics, World Championships in Athletics. 
4. Swimming:
 Includes a variety of swimming types and distances.

1. Boxing: 
Two participants throw punches at each other and compete for points.

2. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA):

Two participants try to score points by pushing each other to the mat, squeezing or throwing each other.
