Windows 11 Beats 10 to Become the Most Popular PC Gaming OS

According to the latest Steam research, Windows 11 has officially overtaken Windows 10 as the most popular operating system for PC gaming. As of August 2024, Windows 11 has a 49.17% share of Steam users, marking a significant milestone in overtaking Windows 10, which  dropped to 47.09%. This change highlights the growing adoption of Windows 11 among gamers due to its optimizations for gaming and support for new hardware. However, despite its popularity in the gaming community, Windows 11 still lags behind Windows 10 in overall market adoption, with Windows 10 maintaining a commanding 64% share of desktop PCs worldwide. As Microsoft prepares for the end of support for Windows 10 in October 2025, this trend is likely to continue, potentially encouraging more users to switch to Windows 11.  For gamers, the move to Windows 11 will be influenced by the system's support for DirectStorage and other gaming-centric features that provide performance improvements on the latest hardware.
