On September 11, 2024, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck parts of Pakistan, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the capital, Islamabad. The earthquake's epicenter was near Dera Ghazi Khan and was at a depth of 10 kilometers. The tremors were felt in Lahore, Multan, Peshawar and even parts of India.
